ARCHIVE: The new Republican House of Representatives is taking aim at the United Nations

On Tuesday, a House of Representatives panel will air criticisms of the U.N. at a briefing that will prescribe congressional action, Fox news has just reported.

Republican U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, who will preside over the briefing as chairwoman of the House Foreign Affairs committee, is seeking cuts and has introduced a bill intended to pressure the United Nations to change the way it operates and to make dues voluntary. She also is promising investigations into possible corruption and mismanagement.

"The fact that the U.S. continues to contribute billions of taxpayer dollars every year to an unaccountable, unreformed U.N. is no laughing matter," she said in a statement.

Congress at various times has withheld funding from the world organization, but last year, under Democratic leadership in both the House and the Senate, the United States paid its dues in full as well as some back dues.
For anyone trying to control U.N. costs, frustrating U.N. budget process, in which theworld organization fudges figures, delays revelations about add-on costs, and counts only about a third of the money it spends every biennium as its “regular budget,” even while the bigger total is the real basis for its activities.
Congress at various times has withheld funding from the world organization, but last year, under Democratic leadership in both the House and the Senate, the United States paid its dues in full as well as some back dues.
Tuesday's briefing comes as Republicans are pressing for broad spending cuts as they seek to reduce the U.S. budget deficit. Where those cuts should be made will be a major issue.
The United Nations has long been a target for conservative U.S. lawmakers. Investigations by Republican-led congressional panels in the last decade helped spur an independent investigation into the U.N.-run oil-for-food program in Iraq
As more and more Americans are coming to the chilling realization that U.S. membership in the United Nations poses a very real threat to our survival as a free and independent nation.
How many Americans are familiar with its formation in 1945 by Communists and socialists? How much more unaware could the American citizen be to not demand from their representatives that the U.S. get out of the U.N.?
Obviously, Americans getting back to work, coming home from wars in the Pacific and Europe were focused on starting families and purchasing their part of the American Dream while this insidious organization planned to destroy from its outset, the very principles upon which America was founded.
Their ultimate goal was to overturn the U.S. Constitution and subjugate the U.S. to the whims of today’s despots and tin-pot dictators.  Why should the taxpayer support this corrupt organization when member’s states vote against United States interests 70-80% of the time?
Let us never for a moment forget it isn't just the third world countries that have voted against U.S. interests. _Major countries and supposed allies were willing to sell their veto_ against Iraqi Freedom by securing under market contracts for oil with their votes.
Representative Christopher Shays (R-CT) said at the time. “We're talking about American lives that are being lost in an attempt to bring democracy to Iraq.”
"If France, Russia, China and Germany had told Saddam it was time to back down and honor his commitments, Shays said it’s possible the United States may not have needed to go to war against Saddam."
To fully appreciate the need for the United States to cut all ties to this corrupt organization a very brief history of the U.N. is in order:  Think of it as things you were never taught or supposed to know while attending school.
1. Founded in 1945, the U.N.’s basic philosophy was both anti-American and pro-totalitarian. The U.S. Declaration of Independence proclaims the “self-evident” truth that “men are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights.”
In the U.N.’s Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the UN ignores God’s existence, implies that the U.N. grants rights, and then repeatedly claims power “as provided by law” to cancel them out of existence.
If any government can place restrictions on such fundamental rights as freedom of speech, the right to keep and bear arms, freedoms of the press, association, movement, and religion, soon there will be no such freedoms.
2. The U.N. was founded by Communists and Council of Foreign Relation (CFR) members. Their common goal was a socialist world government.
Sixteen key U.S. officials who shaped the policies leading to the creation of the UN were later exposed in sworn testimony as secret Communists.
These included Alger Hiss, chief planner of the 1945 founding conference, and the Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, Harry Dexter White. The Soviet Union under Stalin and the entire Communist Party USA apparatus worked tirelessly to launch the U.N. Since it’s beginning in 1921, the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) has always worked for world government.
The key CFR founder, Edward Mandell House, in his book, Philip Dru: Administrator, called for “Socialism as dreamed of by Karl Marx,” The CFR was an early promoter of the U.N., and 43 members of the U.S. delegation at the U. N. founding conference were or would become CFR members.
3. The U.N. has always chosen socialist one-world-order for leaders since it’s inception.
In a compelling piece written by Edward Bernard Glick, he suggests in part, the following:
Over the past 60 years, the political architecture and political mathematics of the United Nations have changed drastically. Not only has the number of non-permanent members in the Security Council been increased from six to 10, but also Third World countries in Africa, Asia and the Middle East now hold the pivotal position in the General Assembly once held by Latin America. They have hijacked the U.N. and transformed it into one of the most anti-Western, anti-American, anti-Semitic and anti-democratic organizations on the planet.
Whatever usefulness the U.N. had in its early years has been dissipated by its indecency and irresponsibility in later years. A case in point is its incessant denunciations of Israel, to which it gave birth and legitimacy when it adopted the Palestine partition resolution in November 1947.
Palestine and Israel aside, really important events, such as America's recognition of Communist China, the ending of the Korean and Vietnam wars, and the defusing of the Cuban missile crisis, were settled not by the United Nations but by diplomats operating outside the world organization.
To those who would say that America's jettisoning the United Nations would mean its return to pre-Second World War isolationism, one should answer that in the age of the computer, the Internet, and airplane travel, the United States can defend its interests and still be part of the world in old-fashioned ways: ambassadorial diplomacy, summit meetings, trade talks, cultural and scientific exchanges, and bilateral and multilateral treaties.
When a more realistic administration comes to Washington, one of its first moves should be starting the legal and administrative process of extracting the United States from the United Nations, and the United Nations from the United States. Surely, America can find better domestic uses for the U.N. dues it pays and for the money to remain a member.
Now more than ever with what appears to be an Obama Administration that is more than willing to subjugate the Constitution to the whims of corrupt third-word despots and dictators, It’s time for the U.S. to sever it ties.  Whether it relates to the U.N.’s International Panel on Climate Change,  (IPCC) reports that the world faced catastrophe from “global warming” with resultant sea level changes and portents of doom based on dubious science, the truth is finally out.  The vast majority of their data was faked as reported by the “Climate Gate Scandal” resulting from leaked documents and E-mails from IPCC scientists.
Yesterday the world was informed by, Ottmar Edenhoffer, UN IPCC Official, "We redistribute World's Wealth By Climate Policy."
This is a far bigger story than transfer of United States wealth through bogus Cap and Trade schemes, it’s about a current U.S. President that sees himself as a globalist and willing participant in, if not advocate for the U.N.’s agenda.
With the United States creating the largest deficits in history, President Obama recently committed $30 billion to U.N. projects.  Obama’s redistribution plans include income redistribution from the U.S Taxpayer for among other things:
·      Funnel $63 billion to the Global Health Initiative during the next six years
·      Make $1 billion annually to education programs
·      Give $475 million to the Global Agricultural and Food Security Program
·      Provide $800 million from the Overseas Private Investment Corporation to Muslim-majority countries in the Middle East and North Africa. An additional $3.2 billion will be provided by private equity capital sources to these Muslim nations
·      Make millions more available through USAID for developing tech hubs in Uganda, Kenya, Cameroon, South Africa, and Senegal.
·      Provide $80 million through the Overseas Private Investment Corporation for small to medium enterprises in the Middle East and North Africa.
·      Provide $2.5 billion annually to 90 countries to "strengthen governance and democratic institutions."
·      Give $1.05 billion to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
·      Give $30 billion through the Obama's Climate Change Initiative to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, $100 billion a year will be provided through taxpayer and private resources to deal with the alleged threat of global climate change.
The U.N, The U.S.’s Financial Rat Hole
The United States is assessed at 22% of the U.N. regular budget and more than 27% for U.N. peacekeeping budget. Obama requested $516.3 million for the U.N. regular budget and more than $2.182 billion for the peacekeeping budget for 2011.
The United States is also assessed for numerous other United Nations organizations as well. More than $6.347 billion went to U.N. organizations in fiscal year 2009.
The United States provides money to the U.N. through the State Department, Department of Agriculture, Department of Energy, Department of Health and Human Services, and more.
The U.S. taxpayer is forced to pay billions to an inefficient organization run by world leaders who hate America and the free market system. This doesn't make any sense – nor does our paying 22% of the cost to keep this bureaucracy alive when we have only one vote in the General Assembly.
Obama wants us to pay even more to this corrupt bureaucracy and to provide funding and technological help to nations that despise America.
The current administration is no fan of the II Amendment:
U.S. Agrees to timetable for the U.N. Gun Ban Legislation. (A dubious claim, see U.N. has absolutely no jurisdiction. below).
The United Nations and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are moving forward with their plan to confiscate your guns.  This unproven claim has been widely circulated on the Internet.  Factually, District of Columbia v. Heller, 26 June 2008:
