THE TRAITORS AMONG US

FREEDOM RINGS 1776

7-2-13
Two thousand years ago a man of wisdom named Marcus Tullius Cicero looked to the pages of history and wrote of what may well be defined as a law of human behavior as he warned of  the actions of traitors and their effect on a nation's downfall. He was a remarkable man of letters and learning and it was perhaps the rediscovery of those letters that precipitated Europe's emergence from Medieval times and led to the Renaissance. The following quote is from one of those letters as Cicero describes what treason will do any culture it permeates.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys,  heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in  the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear."
Cicero spoke both Latin and Greek but were he alive today he would be speaking English, standing with we the patriots, and warning of our treasonous leadership. Whatever language he would choose, he was certainly a student, not only of the political world but also of human nature.

We all owe a debt of gratitude to Cicero as his letters had a strong influence on the great thinkers of The Enlightenment, such as John Locke, David Hume, and Montesquieu, who in turn influenced our Founding Fathers. Think of it, the ideas that gave birth of our nation dates back to the thoughts of Cicero of Rome, and yet still farther back to the great thinkers of Athens. I cannot help but wonder what such men would think if they could view us today as the land of liberty bleeds to death and the only life support available is dominated by ObamaCare.

When still quite young I scoffed at the premise that the United States was an experiment in liberty. I had concluded that after two hundred years it was time to acknowledge that the experiment had proven successful. Oh, I had so much to learn, for now I watch tearfully as that 'success' slips away like sand through an hour glass.

I like to think that I have some small talent with words and can express a concept in a such way that people can actually feel my meaning, but some things have already been said and will never be said better. Such is the case in this one minute excerpt from a Reagan speech as he warns that freedom is only one generation away from extinction. The link.

Those who advocated democracy as opposed to a Republic knew full well what they were doing as they gathered the riff raff, the non productive, the worthless, the lazy, and the corrupt about them, creating a self perpetuating system that would guarantee yet more of their kind, and so was born the Democratic Party. The tipping point came when Republicans concluded that in order to win elections they had to be more like the Democrats; somewhat akin to shooting yourself in the foot, or worse still the head. From that point on it was all downhill, and unstoppable like a runaway train.

There yet remains a few hardy souls in our nation's capitol who still cling to the principles that made the U.S. great, but they are far too few. Badly outnumbered they boldly stick by their guns, defiant to the bitter end; but so too were the defenders of the Alamo. However, the men of the Alamo had an advantage that we lack. They died knowing that their sacrifice was buying precious time for Sam Houston to raise an army, but no army is being raised in our defense as this nation crumbles and time has become our enemy. Nearly every time a new hero comes along we find that we have once again elected another who will betray us.

If the above sounds dismal and fatalistic please accept my apologies but an expression keeps coming to mind; the one that tells us that people always have the kind of government they deserve. And that leads to a question. Who could possibly deserve such a corrupt criminal regime such as the one now in power. The answer is a corrupt criminal electorate seeking the easy road to 'free stuff'.

A few years ago when I was still optimistic about America's future I wrote of a coming strife, of a great and lengthy battle, hoping that the death toll would be less than six million people. I am no longer that optimist as I believed then that our people would rise to resist oppression. No longer can I profess to believe this. Everything changed when it was announced that Obama had once again retained the Presidency.

We know beyond the shadow of a doubt that the 2012 election was rigged and none took to the streets in protest. People grew depressed and angry. They cowered in fear and many drank themselves into a senseless painless oblivion while others simply cried. None did anything meaningful as millions retreated into the womb of denial. We were sold into bondage, and across this land, there was but silence, and that silence took me back to the words of Paul Simon "And the people bowed and prayed, to the neon god they made."

And what a god it is that we have made. I speak not of Obama, but of our passivity, of acceptance, of a law abiding virtue that has drained the moral fiber and the courage from the very souls of a people once great. I look across America and behold many, on their knees, hands clasped in prayer, awaiting a divine deliverance, and expecting help from beyond while they claim the virtue of doing nothing for themselves.

We are on the verge of a totalitarian rule, implemented by those evil beings who have seized control of our nation, and none dare oppose this evil out of fear for their own safety, choosing instead to rely on divine intervention to do what they themselves will not. Many were the Jews awaiting divine intervention in Europe, and they waited right up to the moment that the Nazis turned on the Zyklon-B gas.

I take pride in those who choose to read my essays, as they are not dummies. They are some of the best informed people in this nation. Danger exists in our nation's capitol, in our state assemblies, in our schools, and it pours across our borders daily, and my readers, unlike many, are well aware of much that is transpiring. All of us feel helpless before this assault, convinced quite rightly, that we can do nothing to stop the onrushing horrors. We have a problem and that problem is born of human nature.

Many conservatives speak with disdain for liberals referring to them as sheep, and thus 'sheeple' entered our lexicon. The simple fact of the matter is that mankind is a herd animal. Now that sounds distasteful to many and so we glorify our herd instinct by giving it a definition of our having an 'impulse to sociability in man'. There, that sounds more acceptable, doesn't it? Whatever warm fuzzies you get from that definition still cannot dismiss the fact that without a leader we are lost...Just like sheep.

Green troops first exposed to a combat situation have a tendency to bunch up out of fear, just like sheep. A seasoned commander will order them to disperse, as one grenade could kill them all. It remains that we are not all leaders, and many are not even good followers. We face a further hindrance in the fact that most who still believe in old America are growing old themselves, not ideal for a situation of civil war.

But that civil war, or enslavement, most assuredly lies before us. As Cicero said of a traitor, 'he rots the soul of a nation', and the soul of this nation is most definitely rotten. Fortunately that cannot be said of all of our people.

In previous essays I have stated my belief that martial law will not be imposed until a short time before the 2016 elections, and while I wish Americans would rise now before the administration grows even stronger, they will not. They will delay the inevitable until it is probably too late to do anything about Obama's plans.

While many look forward to Armageddon and the Rapture, I see a somewhat different future. When the powers that be feel the time is at hand we will suffer multiple major terrorist attacks across the nation, thus allowing for martial law that most Americans will accept in the government's efforts to 'protect' us.

Don't worry about the Second Amendment. Pure smoke screen, and a way of compiling a list of gun owners for later use. Obama knows that he cannot disarm America without there first being a major conflagration. The First Amendment is the real target. Recall the words of a true patriot.
"If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter"George Washington
After the next round of 911s is when the problems begin. The seeds are being sown right now that the greatest danger we face is from the right. When the left attacks, the leaders of the conservative movement will become the first targets. Mass arrests will begin on loyal Congressmen, people like Glenn Beck, David Horowitz, Frank Gaffney, and such. The internet will be shut down, conservative bloggers rounded up and executed unless they choose to utilize their Second Amendment rights at home.

Then and only then will the gun grab begin with swat teams in armored vehicles descending on one house at a time. Hopefully at this time bands of armed patriots will form and out of the chaos leaders will emerge. Quite honestly I feel that this effort will be too little too late, but it is the only hope that this nation has.

In a culture out of control the government will have an excuse to begin its relocation campaign to better protect the public. Buses will begin arriving daily taking citizens to refugee camps. Then the debates can begin, as both the conservatives and the liberals can discuss whether they are going to the showers or the gas chambers.
